In Cyprus, the Department of Road Transport confirmed that 761 buses passed technical inspections for the new school year, ensuring a sufficient reserve despite 40 vehicles failing to meet requirements.

During preparations, bus companies raised alarms regarding student vandalism, reporting incidents involving firecrackers, the misuse of fire extinguishers, and the theft of emergency window-breaking hammers. One driver required hospitalization after being incapacitated by a discharged fire extinguisher. In response, the Ministry of Transport scheduled unannounced inspections at school units throughout September.
