In early September 2026, the Czech Republic and Slovakia implemented new financial and social measures to support families and child development.

In the Czech Republic, the state introduced a monthly allowance of 7,467 CZK for student parents enrolled in full-time higher education or vocational programs to assist with childcare costs. Additionally, Czech social services, such as those provided by Cheiron T, have focused on offering social activation to help parents manage stressors and strengthen parenting skills.

In Slovakia, parents of children entering their first year of primary school received an increased allowance of 170 EUR, which includes a one-time 110 EUR supplement for school supplies.

Further educational support in the Czech Republic includes the introduction of a new methodological handbook, ‘Plynulý přechod z mateřské do základní školy’, designed to help educators and parents manage the transition from kindergarten to primary school.
