The Czech Chamber of Deputies has experienced significant demographic changes, with women now comprising one-third of the chamber and a fourfold increase in lawmakers under the age of 30 compared to 2021. New representatives have highlighted challenges regarding legislative complexity, political obstruction, and systemic issues such as national debt and the housing crisis. More recently, the Chamber has faced scrutiny over operational and security measures. Investigations are ongoing following a police intervention in the parliamentary gallery where individuals were removed during a debate. Additionally, journalists have reported new restrictions on filming within the complex. While the Chamber cites security protocols and personnel protection as the basis for these limitations, inquiries suggest a lack of independent professional analysis to support the necessity of the specific filming restrictions. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-26: Czech Chamber of Deputies faces scrutiny over media restrictions and police incident The Czech Chamber of Deputies is under scrutiny following a police removal of protesters from the gallery and new, undocumented restrictions on journalists' ability to film within the building. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/czech-chamber-of-deputies-faces-scrutiny-over-media-restrictions-and-police-incident ### 2026-09-28: Czech Chamber of Deputies sees rise in young and female lawmakers The Czech Chamber of Deputies has seen a demographic shift, with a significant increase in women and lawmakers under 30 addressing issues like debt and housing. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/czech-chamber-of-deputies-sees-rise-in-young-and-female-lawmakers --- Cite as: Czech Chamber of Deputies demographic and operational shifts.
