The event involves more than 90 locations both within the Czech Republic and internationally, including sites in Spain and the United States. It is designed for various fitness levels and features several notable athletic ambassadors. By mid-October, additional commemorative activities were organized to honor historical figures and political prisoners. These include a guided hiking tour in the Boletice military area on October 17 to memorialize priest František Jakeš, which requires strict safety protocols due to the presence of unexploded ordnance. Additionally, the ninth annual ‘Run for the Republic’ was scheduled for October 18 near the Vojna Memorial. Held under the auspices of President Petr Pavel, this event honors those imprisoned in communist labor camps, with this year’s dedication to resistance fighter and political prisoner Antonín Sum. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-14: Czech Republic to host commemorative hikes and runs Commemorative hiking and running events will be held in the Czech Republic in October 2026 to honor historical figures and victims of communist repression. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/czech-republic-to-host-commemorative-hikes-and-runs ### 2026-09-28: Sokolský běh republiky to celebrate Czechoslovak independence The eighth Sokolský běh republiky will celebrate the founding of Czechoslovakia on October 28, featuring over 90 running locations across the Czech Republic and abroad. 4 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/sokolsk-bh-republiky-to-celebrate-czechoslovak-independence --- Cite as: Czech commemorative events for Czechoslovak independence.
