Czech municipalities are preparing for local referendums in October regarding major renewable energy developments.

In Ralsko, residents are set to vote on a proposed 62.5 MW photovoltaic power plant at the former Hradčany military airfield. The referendum also includes a question on whether future renewable energy projects on municipal lands should require local approval. While the regional government is not legally bound by the outcome, local leadership has expressed an intent to defend resident interests.

In Bystrá nad Jizerou, a vote will determine the construction of three wind turbines by NOHO Energy. The project, which has a capacity of 22 MW, offers the municipality 800,000 CZK annually per turbine, alongside one-time payments and electricity bonuses for residents. This vote is scheduled to coincide with municipal elections on October 9 and 10.
