The Czech government is implementing measures to address significant labor shortages across several key sectors, including agriculture, manufacturing, logistics, and construction.

To support the agricultural, food processing, and forestry industries, the government approved the extension of extraordinary work visas for Ukrainian citizens through the end of 2028. This program allows for up to 1,500 annual visas for Ukrainians, supplemented by 1,000 visas for workers from Georgia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Moldova, and North Macedonia. Industry representatives noted that these measures are vital for a sector facing a long-term shortage of approximately 5,000 employees.

Simultaneously, the state is expanding the Qualified Employee Program to combat deficits in industrial and technical fields. Plans include increasing the annual quota for workers from the Philippines from 10,300 to over 12,000 starting in January 2027. There are also indications that quotas for workers from India may be increased to support large industrial companies and the construction sector.
