Vodafone and Vantage Towers have been working to expand 5G and high-speed mobile internet coverage along major railway corridors in the Czech Republic, specifically connecting Prague, Česká Třebová, Ostrava, and Brno.

Funded by the National Recovery Plan, the project aims to eliminate connectivity ‘white spots’ in locations such as Komárov and Prstná, while improving services in areas including Borky, Choceň, and Lipník nad Bečvou. In certain locations, such as the historic center of Loket, infrastructure installation required sensitive integration, including the use of camouflage coatings on antennas placed in a baroque municipal building to protect cultural heritage.

The initiative involves cooperation with local municipalities and the Czech Telecommunication Office, with operators aiming to establish 158 such locations along railways by 2031.
