Authorities in Dak Lak province have intensified investigations into illegal activities involving forest products and financial misconduct.

Initially, the Economic Police Department of the Dak Lak Provincial Police indicted nine forest management and protection officers for “receiving bribes.” These officials were allegedly involved in a ring with the director of Nong Huyen One Member Limited Liability Company, who was charged with “giving bribes” and “violating regulations on the exploitation, protection of forests and forest products.” An inspection of the company resulted in the seizure of over 195 cubic meters of timber, including rare and endangered species, and significant amounts of undocumented firewood. Investigations indicated that monthly bribes were paid to facilitate the transport of illegal goods through checkpoints.

Following these developments, police have issued broader warnings to businesses and individuals regarding tax obligations and revenue management. Criminal proceedings were initiated against a household business owner in Krong A commune for tax evasion involving approximately 2.1 billion VND. The case involved the resale of acacia, rubber, and miscellaneous wood. Authorities have advised businesses dealing in high-value agricultural or forest products to maintain rigorous records to avoid administrative penalties or criminal prosecution.
