The Dallas Cowboys experienced a setback in their backfield after running back Malik Davis suffered a serious hip injury during practice. Co-owner Stephen Jones described the injury as “pretty serious,” noting that Davis would require surgery and be placed on injured reserve.

To address the loss of depth, the team initially considered pursuing free agent Austin Ekeler or exploring a trade for Emanuel Wilson. Ultimately, the Cowboys signed running back Tyler Goodson from the Atlanta Falcons' practice squad. Goodson, noted for his speed, is expected to contribute to both the rushing attack and special teams.
