The Dallas Mavericks are managing roster constraints as they approach the 2026-27 season. Initially, reports indicated that veteran free agent Dwight Powell might receive an invitation to training camp to continue his tenure with the franchise, though the team’s 15-man roster was technically full.

Subsequent roster decisions have complicated these plans. The team chose to fully guarantee Moussa Sissoko’s $2.185 million contract, a move that has reduced financial flexibility. This decision impacts the team’s ability to create space for Powell and affects the status of other players, including Taurean Prince. Prince has expressed his readiness to make a significant impact on the team through defense and rebounding.
