The Danish political landscape continues to shift as the Venstre party experiences a sustained decline in support. While previously at a low of 7.1 percent, a recent Voxmeter poll shows Venstre has dropped further to a record low of 5.8 percent, down from 7.0 percent the prior week.

This downward trend is attributed to internal friction following the passage of a fertilizer law that establishes nitrogen emission quotas for farmers. The legislation caused significant division, resulting in five of Venstre’s 18 Members of Parliament—Søren Gade, Amanda Heitmann, Anni Matthiesen, Preben Bang Henriksen, and Peter Juel-Jensen—voting against the party line. Political spokesperson Sophie Løhde noted that voters are “punishing the internal disputes” following this unrest.

In contrast, Dansk Folkeparti (DF) has maintained its upward trajectory. An Epinion poll reported DF at 14.3 percent, up from 12.3 percent in August, a growth DF group leader Peter Kofod described as an “explosion.” This shift has fundamentally altered the power balance within the blue bloc; Venstre has fallen to the fifth-largest party, trailing behind DF, Liberal Alliance (10.8 percent), the Conservatives, and Danmarksdemokraterne.
