Sources: 13. Developments: 3. The four-year-old horse Daryz, trained by Francis-Henri Graffard and ridden by jockey Mickael Barzalona, entered the €5 million Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe at ParisLongchamp as a strong favorite. A victory would have made Daryz the first male horse to achieve consecutive wins in the race in 50 years. Daryz successfully secured the historic back-to-back victory, winning by 1 1/4 lengths with a time of 2:27. This win marks the first time a male horse has defended the title since Alleged in 1977 and 1978. Additionally, Daryz became the first horse since Allez France in 1974 to win the Prix Ganay, Prix d'Ispahan, and the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe in a single season. The victory qualifies the horse for the Breeders' Cup Turf at Keeneland. Owned by Aga Khan Studs, the colt achieved the win at ParisLongchamp by sitting in the back of the pack for much of the 2,400-meter event before utilizing a powerful acceleration in the final straight to overtake Bay City Roller, who finished second. The Irish filly Diamond Necklace took third place. This victory represents the ninth win for the Aga Khan family in this race. Princess Zahra Aga Khan, representing the family, noted the emotional significance of the win following the passing of her father, Karim Aga Khan. Following his historic second victory in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, Daryz has been retired from racing. The colt concludes his career with a record of nine wins from twelve starts, including four Group 1 victories. He is set to join the Aga Khan stallion roster, with potential stud locations including Haras de Bonneval in France or Gilltown Stud in Ireland. ## Claims - Daryz is the first colt to win back-to-back Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe titles since Alleged in 1977 and 1978.
