Dave Lombardo, the original drummer for the thrash metal band Slayer, has reflected on the 40th anniversary of the band’s landmark third studio album, ‘Reign In Blood’.

In recent discussions, including an interview on the Loaded Radio podcast, Lombardo noted that the music still triggers intense physical reactions such as increased adrenaline and heart rate. He contrasted the ‘restless’ and aggressive energy of the original recording sessions with modern music, which he described as often feeling sterile due to the widespread use of computer music production software.

Lombardo also highlighted the album’s production with Rick Rubin and the legacy of the late guitarist Jeff Hanneman, who was a key composer for the band’s classic tracks.
