Napoli forward David Neres remains sidelined with a ‘low-grade tear of the semimembranosus muscle in his right thigh’ sustained during a Champions League match against Villarreal. The injury was expected to keep him out for approximately three weeks, impacting his availability for fixtures against Venezia, Bodø/Glimt, and Roma.

As the club prepares for an away match against Venezia, analysts have characterized the fixture as a ‘potential trap’ given Venezia’s position at the bottom of the standings, noting that anything less than a victory would be a setback.

Internal concerns have intensified regarding the physical reliability of Neres, with analysts suggesting the club must evaluate his long-term utility due to frequent injury-related absences. Beyond fitness, the club faces administrative and financial scrutiny; reports indicate that Frank Zambo Anguissa may leave the team, while Scott McTominay has reportedly requested a salary in the region of 10 million euros.

These developments occur amidst ongoing criticism of Napoli’s recent form, mental resilience, and summer transfer effectiveness, as well as questions regarding Kevin De Bruyne’s tactical adaptation.
