Midfielder Davide Frattesi joined SS Lazio from Inter Milan on an expensive loan with a 10 million euro option to buy. To facilitate the move, Frattesi reportedly accepted a salary of 2.4 million euros plus bonuses, which was approximately one million euros less than his previous earnings. He stated that he prioritized personal growth and returning to his roots over financial gain. Following his arrival, Frattesi has become a central figure for the team. He credited coach Gattuso for playing a fundamental role in his decision to return to the club after a difficult period at Inter Milan marked by health and playing time issues.

Frattesi has since experienced a significant resurgence in form. At the club level, he has been instrumental in Lazio’s recent success, contributing decisive goals in matches against Bologna and Genoa to help the club maintain a position at the top of the league standings.

His revitalized career has extended to the Italian national team under head coach Roberto Mancini. After scoring against Turkey, Frattesi solidified his return to a starting role for Italy. During a training camp at Coverciano, he noted that his move to Lazio allowed him to regain the continuity and enjoyment of playing. He expressed confidence in his relationship with Gattuso and remarked that the national squad has regained ‘the manager they previously knew’. Additionally, Italian Football Federation President Giovanni Malagò visited the camp to encourage the squad ahead of the Nations League, emphasizing the need for optimism and the responsibility of the players.
