Dawid Kownacki, a Polish striker at Werder Bremen, experienced significant uncertainty regarding his future at the club during the summer transfer window. Initial reports indicated that the club sought to offload him, potentially for 500,000 euros, as they looked to strengthen their center-forward position with other players.

By the end of September, Werder Bremen officially announced that Kownacki and the club had reached a mutual agreement to terminate his contract. Sporting director Clemens Fritz noted that the decision followed discussions regarding Kownacki’s sporting prospects, while praising his professionalism. Kownacki, who joined the club in July 2023, became a free agent with speculation suggesting a possible return to the Polish Ekstraklasa.
