DC Studios is preparing for the October 23, 2026, theatrical release of ‘Clayface,’ an R-rated psychological body-horror film directed by James Watkins. The film stars Tom Rhys Harries as Matt Hagen, depicting the character’s transformation from a Hollywood star into a disfigured villain. 

While early box office tracking indicates that general awareness for the project is lagging behind comparable titles, analyst Brandon Katz noted that opening weekend intent is nearly double the average for similar films. 

To support the film’s release, DC Comics is implementing a continuity retcon to align the character’s comic book history with the film’s narrative. This includes new variant covers for ‘Batman #14’ and ‘Clayface: Celebrity Dirt #4’ that illustrate Matt Hagen’s transformation.
