At the 2026 World Deadlift Championships held on September 5 at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham, United Kingdom, Mexican strongman Raúl Abraham Flores Castro, known as ‘Tayzon’, established a new world record by lifting 511 kilograms (approximately 1,126.6 pounds).

This achievement surpassed the previous record of 510 kilograms set by Icelandic athlete Hafþór Björnsson in 2025 at the same venue. The 26-year-old athlete, originally from Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas, became the first Mexican and Latin American to hold an official strongman deadlift world record.

Flores’ performance, part of the Giants Live circuit, follows a period of rapid progression. In 2025, he recorded an official lift of 453.5 kilograms, and prior to this championship, he had achieved an unofficial training lift of 504.04 kilograms. The successful 511-kilogram attempt was validated by judges using standard equipment, including a lifting suit, belt, and straps.
