Stjepan ‘Jimmy’ Stanić, a prominent figure in the Croatian and former Yugoslavian jazz and entertainment music scenes, passed away in late August 2026 at the age of 98.

Stanić had a career spanning over seven decades as a singer and multi-instrumentalist. His legacy included performing with Dizzy Gillespie in 1956 and releasing hits such as ‘Kauboj Jimmy’ and ‘Dimnjačar’. He was also a co-founder of the Croatian Music Union in 1992.
