Former Miss Turkey runner-up, model, and actress Fatoş Seğmen announced the death of her daughter, Alya Erdoğan. The funeral was scheduled for October 18, 2026, in İzmir.

Following the initial announcement, Seğmen disclosed that Alya had been battling a chronic illness since she was eight months old. The child had undergone continuous treatment for four and a half years and had previously been intubated twice. 

Seğmen reported that after being discharged from the hospital in May, Alya contracted a virus during a routine medical check-up. This infection caused her left lung to collapse, necessitating ventilator support. After receiving emergency treatment at İzmir Şehir Hastanesi, Alya’s heart stopped shortly after leaving the intensive care unit.
