Reports indicate that von Gierke experienced a medical emergency in Punta Arenas, Chile, on the night of Tuesday, October 13, 2026. She was transported to the emergency ward at Clínica RedSalud Magallanes by her husband, but medical personnel were unable to revive her despite performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

A prominent figure in the international fitness community, von Gierke was the first Chilean woman to compete in the Women’s Physique Pro category at Mr. Olympia.
