After successfully reaching the summit with a five-member team of Pakistani women, Mushtaq suffered the medical incident at an altitude of approximately 6,400 metres. Despite assistance from mountain guides, she could not be saved. Recovery efforts for her body were initially hampered by severe weather, including strong winds and heavy snowfall, which forced high-altitude porters to retreat from near Camp 3 to Camp 2. The mission, coordinated by the Gilgit-Baltistan government, the Force Command Northern Areas, and the Alpine Club of Pakistan, eventually succeeded.
