Iralu was a significant figure in the North East India peace movement, dedicating approximately 65 years to the Initiatives of Change (formerly the Moral Re-Armament movement). He served as chairman of the Naga National Reconciliation Commission in 2004 and was a signatory to the 2002 Second Naga Consultative Meeting in Bangkok.
