Noah Adams, a veteran broadcaster and longtime host of NPR’s ‘All Things Considered’, has died at the age of 84. He passed away on October 16 at his home in Yellow Springs, Ohio.

Adams, who began his career at the University of Kentucky before joining NPR in the mid-1970s, hosted the weekday edition of the program for 18 years starting in 1982. His reporting spanned major historical events, such as the fall of the Berlin Wall and the September 11 attacks. He was recognized for a storytelling style that emphasized sincere, unscripted conversations with everyday people.

His wife, NPR news producer Neenah Ellis, noted that his death was due to complications related to a benign brain tumor that had been removed eight years earlier.
