Barzoo Rezaei, arrested in connection with nationwide protests in December 2025, was sentenced to death by the 23rd Branch of the Tehran Revolutionary Court for ‘moharebeh’ (enmity against God). Human rights organizations have questioned the fairness of the trial, alleging Rezaei was denied the right to legal counsel during interrogation. Varesheh Moradi, a Kurdish political prisoner, received a second death sentence from Branch 15 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court. She is charged with ‘membership in an armed rebel group’ (baghi). Defense lawyers argue the court issued this sentence without the additional investigations previously ordered by the Supreme Court and claim the court merely changed the legal label of the charge to maintain the penalty. Moradi’s defense maintains her activities were related to fighting ISIS in northern Syria rather than operations against the Iranian government. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-14: Varesheh Moradi sentenced to death for a second time by Tehran court Tehran's Revolutionary Court Branch 15 has issued a second death sentence against Kurdish political prisoner Varesheh Moradi, charging her with membership in an armed rebel group. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/varesheh-moradi-sentenced-to-death-for-a-second-time-by-tehran-court ### 2026-10-05: Barzoo Rezaei sentenced to death in Tehran Barzoo Rezaei has been sentenced to death by a Tehran Revolutionary Court on charges of disrupting national security through cooperation with hostile governments. 6 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/telecommunications-retirees-protest-in-four-iranian-cities --- Cite as: Death sentences issued by Tehran Revolutionary Courts.
