Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders has faced scrutiny regarding both his personal conduct and the team’s declining performance. In late October, Sanders addressed rumors that he had offered $50,000 to silence critics. These claims originated from comments made by his videographer, Christopher Neely, during a live stream. Sanders clarified during a press conference that the suggestion was a joke and a misinterpretation.

Following these events, attention has shifted toward the team’s competitive results and media impact. Despite a five-year, $54 million contract extension signed in 2025, Sanders is facing pressure due to a 2-5 season and a broader trend of declining performance. Data indicates that ESPN viewership for Colorado games has reportedly dropped by 67% over three seasons, falling from an average of 6.1 million viewers in 2023 to 2 million in the most recent season.
