The Delhi Police Crime Branch arrested 62-year-old Vishwanath Singh, also known as Munna, in the Shiv Vihar area of Seelampur. Singh had been a proclaimed offender since 2001, having evaded authorities for 26 years following a 1998 murder.

Police allege that Singh killed his 24-year-old neighbor, Jayprakash, by striking him in the head with a hammer. The motive was reportedly linked to suspicions regarding an alleged affair between the victim and Singh’s wife. Following the attack, Singh allegedly attempted to stage the crime as a road accident. While the case was initially registered as a death due to negligence, murder charges were filed in 2000. The arrest was the result of months of surveillance and intelligence gathering involving Singh’s ancestral village in Etawah, Uttar Pradesh.
