A 12-year-old student, identified as Avni, died following allegations of teacher misconduct at Sarvodaya Kanya Bal Vidyalaya in Delhi. The student’s family alleges she was subjected to torture, including being beaten, locked in a bathroom, and forced to stand in the sun as punishment for forgetting a book.

While the family contends these actions caused her health to deteriorate, Delhi Police noted the student had a history of epilepsy. Police reports indicate her health declined during school hours on August 22, and they observed that no formal complaint regarding teacher misconduct was filed between the alleged incidents and her death. 

The Directorate of Education has ordered an investigation into the matter as police continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the death.
