The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has initiated the disbursement of financial aid to students for the 2026-27 academic session. Approximately Rs 69.87 crore is being transferred to the bank accounts of roughly 5.1 lakh students to cover the costs of uniforms and school bags.

The civic body identified 6,56,950 beneficiaries based on enrollment data from August 31, with each student set to receive Rs 1,370. To prevent delays, officials are working to update inactive account details and assist parents in opening new bank accounts. 

Additionally, the distribution method for stationery has changed; rather than providing a Rs 300 direct transfer for notebooks and supplies, the MCD will now procure and distribute these items directly through schools. The total funds for the program are estimated at Rs 90 crore.
