Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu has outlined a vision for the capital’s development, emphasizing the interconnected nature of urban infrastructure, healthcare, education, water management, energy, and digital governance. Speaking at Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Sandhu noted that while public-private partnerships (PPPs) are vital for the “Viksit Delhi” 2047 vision, they must be applied selectively based on risk distribution, public authority capacity, and expected citizen outcomes rather than as a universal solution. He urged officials to evaluate projects across their entire lifecycle to ensure they are not just technically feasible but also financially sustainable and affordable.

To advance these goals, Sandhu met with Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and NBCC officials to review progress on Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) and other urban infrastructure projects, calling for faster execution and improved coordination. As part of the Delhi Master Plan 2047, the DDA continues its In-Situ Rehabilitation (ISR) of JJ Clusters to provide housing for approximately 1.7 million people.

Furthering the focus on essential services, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Lieutenant Governor Sandhu met to discuss urban development and public safety. This follows a large-scale volunteer campaign that removed over 76,000 kilograms of waste from the Yamuna river banks. Additionally, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for 43 water-related projects valued at approximately 8,941 crore rupees. Managed by the Delhi Jal Board, these initiatives include a new sewage treatment plant in Okhla and upgrades to expand sewage networks across unauthorized colonies and villages.
