The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) is engaged in various diplomatic, financial, and institutional activities involving regional neighbors.

Diplomatically, the DRC is hosting leaders from the Central African Republic and the Republic of the Congo for the 10th anniversary of the College of Higher Studies of Strategy and Defense. Additionally, a DRC civil society delegation led by Bernard Botoula wa Bonsomi is visiting the Republic of the Congo to study models of citizen participation and consultative council structures, aiming to implement “citizen diplomacy” to strengthen ties between Kinshasa and Brazzaville.

On the institutional and economic fronts, the DRC’s financial intelligence unit, CENAREF, has joined the Egmont Group to facilitate international information exchange, although the country remains on the Financial Action Task Force monitoring list. Economically, the Ministry of National Economy reported that petroleum companies faced $146.7 million in certified losses and missed earnings during the second quarter of 2026, a sharp increase from the $43.7 million reported in the first quarter, driven by rising international oil prices.
