SEGA has announced the Digital Ultimate Edition for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles 2, which includes the base game, various character passes, and cosmetic items. The game is scheduled to arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 29, 2026, offering a free upgrade path for existing Nintendo Switch owners. The Switch 2 version is expected to feature technical improvements such as a 60 FPS framerate and superior graphical quality. While the game's release is being prepared, its security was compromised when a user successfully bypassed the Denuvo anti-tamper protection on the PC version. In response to market conditions, SEGA has implemented permanent price reductions for the standard and deluxe editions of both the original title and the sequel across available platforms. On Amazon, the title has seen a significant price reduction to €39.99 from a recommended price of €60.99. As of October 31, 2026, SEGA and Aniplex have officially released the Nintendo Switch 2 edition. Developed by CyberConnect2, the game includes the Infinity Castle Character Pass, which expands the playable roster to 54 characters, including Infinity Castle iterations of Tanjiro Kamado, Zenitsu Agatsuma, Giyu Tomioka, Shinobu Kocho, Akaza, Doma, and Kaigaku. Existing Nintendo Switch owners can utilize an Upgrade Pass on the Nintendo eShop to upgrade for free, which also enables direct save data transfers and cross-generation play between Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 users. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-31: Sega and Aniplex release Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles 2 for Nintendo Switch 2 Sega and Aniplex have launched Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles 2 for Nintendo Switch 2, featuring 60 FPS gameplay, 54 characters, and free upgrades for existing owners. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/sega-and-aniplex-release-demon-slayer-the-hinokami-chronicles-2-for-nintendo-switch-2 ### 2026-10-28: SEGA announces Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles 2 for Nintendo Switch 2 SEGA is bringing Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles 2 to Nintendo Switch 2, featuring 60 FPS, improved graphics, and over 40 playable characters. 10 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/sega-announces-demon-slayer-the-hinokami-chronicles-2-for-nintendo-switch-2 ### 2026-10-16: Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles 2 sees Switch 2 announcement and Denuvo crack SEGA announced a Digital Ultimate Edition and a Nintendo Switch 2 release for Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles 2, while the PC version's Denuvo protection was successfully bypassed by a cracker. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/demon-slayer-the-hinokami-chronicles-2-sees-switch-2-announcement-and-denuvo-crack --- Cite as: Demon Slayer Hinokami Chronicles 2 release and security.
