Health authorities in Costa Rica and Colombia have issued urgent warnings regarding rising dengue fever cases.

In Costa Rica, the Ministry of Health reported 3,437 accumulated cases through epidemiological week 32 of 2026, an increase of over 1,000 cases compared to the same period in 2025. The highest incidence rates are noted in the Central Pacific Region, with hospitalizations reported in Alajuela and Puntarenas.

Colombia has recorded 72,654 cases this year, including 139 in the department of Caldas. While local cases have not yet been identified in Manizales, officials warn that the Aedes aegypti mosquito is present in several urban sectors.

Authorities in both nations are emphasizing the elimination of mosquito breeding sites by emptying, washing, and covering water storage containers.
