A cinematic review titled “Ciak. Si Beve!” was held in Piazza San Nicola, combining visual storytelling with discussions on the future of small towns. The event featured a documentary screening and a narrative walk through the village, marking the approach of the 40th anniversary of the 1986 media provocation “Badolato paese in vendita in Calabria,” which warned of the region's vulnerability. Building on this theme, the sports association Calabriando has organized a visit to Badolato scheduled for October 4, 2026. This excursion aims to raise awareness regarding the depopulation affecting approximately 5,000 of Italy's 8,000 municipalities. Participants will tour historical sites, including the 17th-century Franciscan convent and the medieval center, while viewing sculptures that depict local peasant struggles. ## Timeline ### 2026-09-28: Badolato village visit organized to protest rural depopulation The Calabriando association will visit Badolato on October 4, 2026, to mark 40 years since a major alarm regarding the depopulation of Italian rural villages was first raised. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/badolato-village-visit-organized-to-protest-rural-depopulation ### 2026-09-25: Badolato hosts cinema festival to discuss future of small towns The “Ciak.
