Organized by the Indian Army and the Chamoli District Administration under Operation Sadbhavana, the event follows the theme ‘Our Heritage, Our Future’. The festival aims to preserve Uttarakhand’s cultural heritage, promote tourism in border regions, and support local economies through stalls for artisans, farmers, and women’s self-help groups. On September 20, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited Badrinath Dham to offer prayers at the Shri Badri Vishal temple and review the progress of the Char Dham pilgrimage. Dhami noted that the first phase of the pilgrimage was “historic,” with approximately 51 lakh devotees having already visited the shrines. During his visit, the Chief Minister participated in the Devbhumi Cultural Festival and the Shri Badrinath Katha Mahotsav. He engaged with local traditions, including joining a Chachani dance in Bamani village, and interacted with pilgrims and shopkeepers. Dhami emphasized that the state government is focused on ensuring smooth travel and efficient darshan for pilgrims during the second phase of the pilgrimage following the monsoon season, noting that roadwork and infrastructure improvements are ongoing to facilitate a seamless journey. ## Timeline ### 2026-09-20: Pushkar Singh Dhami visits Badrinath Dham to review pilgrimage progress Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami visited Badrinath Dham to offer prayers and review the Char Dham pilgrimage, which has seen a record 51 lakh devotees in its first phase. 8 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/pushkar-singh-dhami-visits-badrinath-dham ### 2026-09-19: Badrinath hosts Devbhoomi Cultural Festival to promote heritage The Devbhoomi Cultural Festival is taking place in Badrinath, showcasing Uttarakhand's folk culture, local handicrafts, and an Indian Army exhibition to promote border tourism and regional heritage. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/badrinath-hosts-devbhoomi-cultural-festival-to-promote-heritage --- Cite as: Devbhoomi Cultural Festival in Badrinath.
