In the Netherlands, two couples celebrated their diamond wedding anniversaries, marking 60 years of marriage.

In Scheemda, Walther and Rika Schoofs-de Vries received a visit from acting mayor Tim van Bostelen on behalf of the Oldambt municipality. Walther, a former shipbuilder originally from Germany, and Rika, who worked in catering, have three sons and six grandchildren.

In Veendam, Jan and Nel Pankras were congratulated by acting mayor Henk Jan Schmaal. Jan previously worked in government administration, while Nel held positions in banking and child protection. The couple, who relocated to Veendam in late 2023, noted that they attribute their longevity to “staying calm through life’s challenges.”
