Digital asset companies are expanding their presence in Singapore through regulated services and regional hubs. 

BitGo has established a new office in Singapore to serve as its Asia-Pacific regional hub, noting that its client base in the region has tripled since obtaining a Major Payment Institution (MPI) license from the Monetary Authority of Singapore in August 2024. The company has more than doubled its local headcount to support growing institutional demand for regulated crypto custody.

Similarly, Gemini Digital Payments Singapore has secured an MPI license from the Monetary Authority of Singapore following a nearly two-year regulatory process. This license enables the exchange to provide digital payment token services and cross-border money transfers without the volume limits applied to smaller institutions. Gemini, which has operated in Singapore since 2020, utilizes the city-state as a strategic hub for its expansion across Asia.
