Naples is undergoing a period of significant digital transformation and social debate. Initial discussions at the Napoli Bees Square 2026 focused on the ‘post-digital’ healthcare model, emphasizing the integration of telemedicine and technological infrastructure within the Campania Region to improve service interoperability.

These technological advancements are being examined alongside their psychological impacts, specifically regarding the need for a ‘digital diet’ to mitigate risks like digital addiction and cognitive development issues in youth. At the Napoli Bees Square 2026, experts analyzed the Campania Region’s approach to integrating governance and professional skills, while the presentation of Paolo Siani’s book, ‘Benessere digitale’ (Digital Wellbeing), advocated for balanced technology use to prevent sleep disturbances and emotional development issues in children.

As the digital shift continues to reshape daily life—affecting banking, transportation, and medical services—it has also raised concerns regarding data security and the digital divide. This technological evolution is occurring alongside political debates concerning the city’s autonomy and economic identity, with some proposals suggesting new forms of economic sovereignty, such as the use of cryptocurrency, to drive development in the Mezzogiorno.
