In late October 2026, Dinamo Zagreb denied rumors that former midfielder Thiago Alcántara was a candidate to replace manager Mario Kovačević. The club stated that leadership maintained full confidence in Kovačević despite a recent Europa League loss.

By early November, the club announced the mutual termination of Kovačević’s contract following a defeat against Rudeš. Jerko Leko was appointed as interim coach, while the club moved to appoint Oscar Garcia as the new head coach, with an official announcement expected following upcoming fixtures.
