In Canicatti, officials and parents have raised concerns regarding the unauthorized occupation of spaces near schools, which creates obstacles for students. Municipal Councilor Dario Cipolla stated that these spaces are “essential services rather than privileges,” noting that violators face fines of up to 660 euros and license point deductions. In Catania, the municipality has moved to revoke 100 personalized parking spaces following an investigation into eligibility. Under directive number 1209, Local Police Commander Diego Peruga ordered the revocations after cross-referencing documentation with municipal registry data. The investigation found that certain spaces were no longer required due to the death of permit holders or changes in residency. This action is part of a broader rationalization plan that has already recovered over 300 spaces for general use. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-26: Catania revokes 100 unauthorized disability parking spaces Catania has revoked 100 disability parking spaces that no longer met eligibility requirements, part of a city-wide effort that has recovered over 300 spots for general use since the start of the year. 3 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/catania-revokes-100-unauthorized-disability-parking-spaces ### 2026-09-29: Canicatti officials address illegal parking in disability spaces near schools Authorities in Canicatti are addressing the illegal occupation of disability parking spaces near schools, warning of heavy fines and license point deductions for violators. 2 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/canicatti-officials-address-illegal-parking-in-disability-spaces-near-schools --- Cite as: Disability parking management in Sicily.
