Oskar von der Linden, a 32-year-old mechanical engineering student from Paderborn, was reported missing on September 9, 2026, after departing on a hike. Police noted his disappearance was untypical, as he failed to attend a planned meeting with his brother and his equipment did not suggest a long-term absence.

On October 12, 2026, a witness discovered von der Linden’s body in a wooded area near Paderborn-Wewer. Authorities stated there are currently “no indications of foul play or suicide,” and the Paderborn prosecutor’s office has ordered an autopsy to establish the cause of death. The public search has been discontinued.
