Authorities in Chile have located Thae Loiza Galaz, a 32-year-old former municipal councilwoman of Graneros, who had been missing since August 5, 2026.

Following her disappearance from her residence in the Ñuñoa commune, the investigation was transferred to the PDI Homicide Brigade on August 11. Family members had expressed concern that Loiza was without money, identification, or a mobile phone due to a previous robbery. Security footage had previously shown her contacting a friend, Leila, to assist with a gate.

On August 17, detectives from the Rancagua Homicide Brigade and the Metropolitan Region Person Location Brigade found Loiza in central Santiago at the intersection of Huérfanos and Bandera streets. She was reported to be in “good physical and mental health.”

Working with the Public Ministry, authorities took a statement from Loiza to determine the circumstances of her disappearance. Preliminary findings suggest the disappearance may have been voluntary. As an adult in good health, she was released to the public after legal procedures were completed and her family was notified. Records also indicate that in August of the previous year, the former official was formally charged regarding the use of false medical certificates to protect her remuneration.
