Discussions regarding the use of dishwasher tablets have highlighted both cleaning benefits and potential risks to household appliances.

Experts and technicians have issued warnings against a social media trend involving the use of dishwasher tablets to clean washing machines. Specialists note that the aggressive degreasers in these tablets, designed for hard surfaces, can dry out and crack sensitive components like rubber door seals and internal plastic hoses, which may lead to leaks and costly repairs.

Conversely, cleaning experts suggest that the enzyme and surfactant content in dishwasher tablets can be effective for cleaning various household items, including range hoods, shower cabins, trash cans, and oven racks. However, users are cautioned against placing specific items inside a dishwasher, such as cast iron, wood, aluminum, or delicate antique porcelain, to prevent damage.
