Sources: 16. Developments: 2. The Kosovo Prosecutorial Council (KPC) dismissed Blerim Isufaj from his role as Chief Prosecutor of the Special Prosecution Office. The decision was based on findings of mismanagement, incompetence, and a failure to meet required performance standards. Detailed justifications for the dismissal highlighted Isufaj’s failure to implement electronic case distribution. The KPC noted that manual control over case assignments undermines institutional integrity and impartiality, particularly within an office tasked with investigating high-level corruption and organized crime. The Council stated that electronic and random assignment is necessary to prevent any single individual from influencing which prosecutor handles specific investigations. The dismissal has triggered political tension, with opposition figures characterizing the move as “political revenge” and an attempt to undermine judicial independence. While Isufaj is reviewing the decision for a potential appeal, he will remain a special prosecutor. Dren Paca has been appointed as acting Chief Prosecutor. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-11: Blerim Isufaj dismissed as Chief Prosecutor of Kosovo's Special Prosecution Office The Kosovo Prosecutorial Council has dismissed Blerim Isufaj as Chief Prosecutor of the Special Prosecution Office, citing mismanagement and lack of electronic case distribution. 5 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/blerim-isufaj-dismissed-as-chief-prosecutor-of-kosovos-special-prosecution-office ### 2026-10-02: Blerim Isufaj dismissed as Chief Prosecutor of Kosovo's Special Prosecution The Kosovo Prosecutorial Council has dismissed Special Prosecution Chief Blerim Isufaj for mismanagement and incompetence.
