Disney+ has announced a reboot of the classic dating series ‘Blind Date’, scheduled to premiere in 2027. Maura Higgins, an Irish model and reality television personality, has been selected as the host, stepping into a role previously held by Cilla Black and Paul O’Grady.

While the new format will maintain the original premise of contestants choosing between suitors hidden behind a wall, the production will introduce modern updates. These include ‘innovative format twists’ and a ‘special Blind Date resort’ where cameras will monitor interactions. Filming is expected to begin at a secret location later this year. 

Angela Jain, head of content at Disney+ EMEA, described Higgins as a ‘perfect match’ for the series, noting her ‘straight-talking humour’ and background as a reality dating contestant.
