Gameloft announced the ‘Season of Scares’ major update for Disney Dreamlight Valley, a six-week Halloween event scheduled to launch on September 23, 2026. The update features the character Oogie Boogie from ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ and includes the ‘Haunting Elegance Star Path’ with new festive attire and furniture.

Following the launch, the update introduced Oogie Boogie as the game’s first limited-time character. To unlock him as a permanent resident, players must complete a series of six weekly challenges between September 23 and October 28, 2026. The process begins with the quest ‘A Halloween Invasion,’ which requires players to investigate a strange mirror at Scrooge’s Store. Accessing these missions requires that players have already unlocked the Peaceful Meadow biome, Scrooge’s Store, and Remy’s Restaurant.

By September 30, 2026, the second quest, ‘Oogie Boogie Contract,’ was introduced. This task requires players to present a Lucky Wheel Ticket from their mailbox to Oogie Boogie at Scrooge McDuck’s Store. Players must then catch three Ghosties using a mask and the Ghost Lantern, decorate the Valley with items like ‘U-Carve-It Pumpkins,’ and visit Mickey, Merlin, and Remy to release the captured spirits.

Players can also collect pumpkin tokens through weekly duties, such as photographing the ‘Pumpkin King’s door’ (the Candy Cane Door from the Star Path). Some players have reported potential bugs regarding this photo requirement. If the questline is not completed by November 4, 2026, players will lose the opportunity to unlock the character until the following year. Successful completion of the final challenge, ‘Oogie Boogie’s Big Game,’ rewards players with the character and the companion Zero.
