Initially, the company tested new PhotoPass features at Magic Kingdom, including “Haunted Mansion Magic Shot” variations. These image treatments, which can transform guests into ghostly figures or iconic busts, sparked debate among enthusiasts. Some critics expressed concerns that the bust portraits appeared to use generative AI, arguing such imagery was “disrespectful” to original designers Marc Davis and Claude Coats. Following these tests, Disney Parks launched a free “Happy Halloween” livestream on YouTube. This digital experience offers musical arrangements and animated scenes featuring characters like Madame Leota and the Hitchhiking Ghosts. While the Florida attraction lacks the full “Nightmare Before Christmas” overlay found in California and Japan, the livestream provides a way for fans to engage with the attraction’s atmosphere remotely. As the seasonal transition continues, Disney has begun moving from Halloween to Christmas themes at Disney Springs. The World of Disney store has debuted its 2026 holiday collection, which includes new apparel, seasonal home decor, and festive accessories. Additionally, Disney confirmed that portions of the Monstropolis land at Hollywood Studios are expected to open in 2027. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-29: Walt Disney World introduces 2026 holiday merchandise and attractions Walt Disney World has launched its 2026 holiday merchandise at Disney Springs and announced upcoming 2027 attractions for Hollywood Studios. 7 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/disney-introduces-new-haunted-mansion-digital-experience ### 2026-10-03: Walt Disney World tests new photo effects at Magic Kingdom Walt Disney World is testing new photo effects at Magic Kingdom, including AI-style Haunted Mansion treatments that have sparked debate among fans regarding the use of generative technology. 5 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/walt-disney-world-tests-new-photo-effects-at-magic-kingdom --- Cite as: Disney Haunted Mansion digital and photo updates.
