In mid-October 2026, defender Doan Van Hau received praise for his strong performance during an AFC Champions League Elite match, where his club Cong An Ha Noi (CAHN) suffered a narrow 0-1 defeat to Japan’s Kashima Antlers. His ability to compete against elite opposition led to discussions regarding a potential recall to the Vietnam national team.

By late October, Hau’s momentum was interrupted by disciplinary action from the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF). Following a violent foul against a midfielder during the second round of the V. League season, Hau was issued a four-match suspension and a 20 million VND fine. This resulted in his absence from CAHN’s match against Thanh Hoa.
