The Instituto Tecnológico de las Américas (ITLA) has moved from advocating for technological integration to implementing specific training initiatives in the Dominican Republic. Initially, ITLA Rector Jimmy Rosario Bernard emphasized the strategic importance of artificial intelligence (AI) and the semiconductor industry, noting that AI is a “current reality impacting education, employment, and business.” He advocated for integrating AI knowledge across various professional disciplines to meet market demands and strengthen ties with the United States. Following these discussions, ITLA launched a webinar to introduce the NVIDIA University Ambassador Program. This initiative aims to train professors from ITLA, INTEC, and PUCMM in fields such as deep learning, data science, and accelerated computing. Coordinated by the Centro de Excelencia en Inteligencia Artificial (CEIA-RD), the program supports the National Sovereign Artificial Intelligence Initiative, which includes broader government projects like the development of a National Artificial Intelligence Factory. ## Timeline ### 2026-10-19: ITLA and NVIDIA launch AI training program for professors ITLA and NVIDIA have introduced an ambassador program to train Dominican university professors in artificial intelligence, deep learning, and data science to enhance higher education. 4 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/itla-and-nvidia-launch-ai-training-program-for-professors ### 2026-09-20: ITLA Rector promotes AI and semiconductor industry cooperation ITLA Rector Jimmy Rosario Bernard is advocating for technological integration in the Dominican Republic, focusing on semiconductor industry cooperation and the widespread adoption of artificial intelligence. 4 sources. https://clstr.news/cluster/itla-rector-promotes-ai-and-semiconductor-industry-cooperation --- Cite as: Dominican Republic AI and semiconductor development.
