In October 2026, various sectors in the Dominican Republic marked significant professional and social milestones. Trade associations celebrated the 25th anniversary of the National Council of Provision Trade (CNCP) and Commerce Day. During these events, CNCP Vice President Tomás Marcano discussed the necessity of balancing international trade agreements like DR-CAFTA with the protection of national production, suggesting duty-free imports during supply deficits to ensure food security.
